Entrepreneur · Founder of GDIY · Podcaster
I’m Matthieu Stefani. I’ve been an entrepreneur since 2005, and I’m the founder of Génération Do It Yourself.
I started with a rule that’s almost trivial: do before asking. Build before monetizing. Learn from the best before claiming to be one of them. Twenty years later, the rule hasn’t changed.
GDIY came from that obsession — and from another one: never reduce the podcast to a single category of talent. From the earliest episodes, I opened the microphone to entrepreneurs, but also to artists, top-level athletes, chefs, craftsmen, researchers, writers, soldiers, doctors. One casting rule only: excellence in their field, and the willingness to talk about it without filters. A-players, whatever the ground.
The format hasn’t changed either: long conversations, sometimes three hours, without cosmetic edits. Not to celebrate. To understand how they did it, what they got wrong, what they never say anywhere else. Everything hiding behind the official version.
Since 2017, I’ve hosted Emmanuel Macron, James Dyson, Reid Hoffman, Brian Chesky, Yann Le Cun, Ivan Zhao, Sean Rad — alongside several hundred guests whose names will never appear on a shortlist, but whose work deserves the same listening time. GDIY is now one of the most listened-to podcasts in the French-speaking world, across all formats.
Around the podcast, I built Stefani & Co. The holding company includes Collision Productions, which I run with Clémence Lepic, and several stakes in media, tech and real estate. With Christofer Ciminelli and Thomas Alombert, we’re developing Orso Media. Other podcasts followed: Combien Ça Gagne, Fleurons, La Martingale.
Twenty years, in shorthand
Co-founded CosaVostra, a digital strategy agency. MBO in November 2024; leadership handed over to Laurent Kretz and his team.
Founded O’Barbershop. Sold in 2016.
Founded Trackpay. Sold in 2018.
Co-founded Ovni Capital, an early-stage VC fund. €60M raised from the GDIY community, Bpifrance and institutional investors.
The rest
I run in the mountains. Ultra-trail, long distances, difficult terrain. Less out of passion than out of discipline. Same logic as the podcast: repetition, distance, clarity.
I live in Paris with my wife Lucie and our three children: Louise, Elie and Jules.
If you’re reading this page, you probably listen to GDIY. Thank you. The work continues.
